In search of truth

As I sat in church yestersay, I was really hungry for what God's truth is in every situation. So I am asking for your help on my quest. I want you to comment and list the things or thing that you are unsure of when it comes to scripture or ways of living. Those gray areas so to speak. Then one by one I want to do extensive research in the word of God to find out the answers and then blog them.

For example. "can a christian lose salvation"?.

Okay, here's one, personal words. How do you even know for sure it is God, or that God even gives people personal direction?

Wow that's a great question to ask! Thanks for commenting.

Are we allowed to post helpers to the questions asked? (e.g. "And when [the shepherd] puts out his sheep, he goes before them, and they follow him: for they know his voice." [Jn. 10:4] goes with the question of God's personal direction)

Benjamin:
Please feel free to comment on questions in this post. Or any other for that matter. We are all in search of truth and can learn from each other, so comment away my friend. :)

Thanks. I'm going to put you as a link on my site, because your open-hearted style is both edifying and challenging at the same time. May the Lord continue to reveal more of Himself to you. God bless.

Here's a question, which I kind of formulated in a comment on one of your earlier posts. Anyway, here it is: Does the Lord allow His children, as they further commune with Him in the Spirit, move about and see things, such as Elisha in 2 Kings 5:24-27, as well as Paul in 1 Cor. 5:3? I know that it says that He says visions and dreams unto them that receive the dispensation of the Spirit (Joel 2:28, 29). Just wanted to get your thoughts. God bless, Brother. Ciao.

Hey there Benjamin:
I will comment now and as I ponder it more I may comment later. I believe whole heartedly that God can show us things in our spirit without us being in the situation. We need to remember that our spirits have no bodies. I think that the gift of discernment is closely related to this. You see as we spend time in the presence of God, he will show us things that are on his heart. Jeremiah 33:3 says call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. I remember when I used to work as a sand blaster. I would be in my booth for hours on end, I was there in body but gone in spirit. I used to call it my tent of meeting because I would go in there and God would start speaking to my heart. I remember he spoke to me for 6 hours about the fear of the Lord. (oh to have a pen for those times) I will study this topic further but I truly believe that the Holy Spirit can and will show people things for the purposes of stregthening, encouraging and rebuking.

Side note: I love the next story of Elisha in 2 Kings....an axhead floats...what faith, to simply say "God it was borrowed" would that be our response if we dropped a skill saw into the river? Probably not.

Thank you, Brother. You are so right, because it is amazing where God will meet us. I just pray that we will be more open. For, what amazing things are left sitting on the shelf of God's innumerable treasures? May we become more open to His guidance and instruction. Thanks for your comments and posts, because they are of immense encouragement. The Lord increase His mercy and grace unto His servants. Your brother in Alabama salutes you. Ciao.

PS: I love the ministry and example of Elisha. Well, I went to my Vulgate (Latin Bible) and researched the words about the iron floating, because mine says "swim." Well, the word can mean either, but to think about it, in a river it would have to swim against the current. Isn't our God so great that he can make an inanimate swim?! Praise be to the same Lord who dwells in the hearts of His children!
