Screenwriter for Nativity is a Follower of Christ

I received an email regarding the Nativity and apparently the screenwriter is a believer. I found a clip on YouTube regarding his journey. I think it is very good to have a biblically literate movie that may in fact bring Christ back into Christmas for many people. Wouldn't it be nice for "The Nativity" to be as popular as the Grinch or The Santa Claus. I hope that this movie becomes a classic in many homes.

Amos 5:21 “I absolutely despise your festivals! I get no pleasure from your religious assemblies!

5:22 Even if you offer me burnt and grain offerings, I will not be satisfied;I will not look with favor on your peace offerings of fattened calves.

5:23 Take away from me your noisy songs; I don’t want to hear the music of your stringed instruments.

I can go into detail later, but about 10 years ago the above passage was highlighted to me with regard to Christmas. And consequently I become concerned any time I hear someone talk about putting Christ back into Christmas, I have become concerned that to invoke his presence may be to provoke his wrath.

Hey Rene:
I completely agree with you. I want to direct you to a post I wrote two years ago regarding Christmas. (http://coffeewithgod.blogspot.com/2004/12/gods-heart-at-christmas.html)
I am not as much concerned about the date as I am about the honor that Christ may receive through it. Pagan festival aside, it can be an opportunity for Christians to honor Jesus and his birth. With that said we could do it June 25 for that matter. But being it is on that day I choose to honor God with my heart. I think that is what God would want. If we were to get religious and just did it out of compulsion or routine then I think it would upset God. Those are my thoughts anyways. To be quite honest Chrstmas is quite frustrating for me for that very reason. Commercialism.
