Galatians 1:8-9
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!
9As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!
Joseph smith the founder of Mormonism, claimed that he was visited by the angel Moroni who informed him that the true gospel had been corrupted after the apostolic age and thus has been absent from the earth for nearly 19 centuries. Smith viewed his calling as a restoration of true Christianity to the world. The Mormon gospel is based on self effort, submission to baptism and for regeneration, the acceptance of Joseph Smith as Gods end time prophet, a belief in the "inspired" Mormon scriptures, and keeping the word of wisdom, which includes abstinence from caffeine, tobacco, and alcohol (doctrines and covenants, section 89), among other things. Similarly, Islam teaches that the angel Gabriel delivered the Koran to Muhammad. The apostle Paul identifies all such human or angelic revelations as "contrary" gospels and pronounced a curse upon those who proclaim a false prophet.

the thing I find very interesting about mormonism is how often that religion changes. It evolves with the times, with social standards. God is the same yesterday today and forever. You can tell the true gospel by how over thousands of years, Jesus is never outdated!
At one point, the mormons believed that the fallen angels that came from "their planets" down to earth became black. They actually saw the black people as a cursed generation because of the teachings of John smith. Later, after the fall of slavery, a great mormon "prophet" had a vision that declared that blacks were not a fallen people.....(how convient)
Plus, becoming your own god may be a "small clue' that this may not be the true message of salvation....
