Miracles

I am burdened with a conviction that North America is foolish in our interpretation of miracles. We always talk about what God is doing in China or third world countries, but I really believe that North America is leading the way for miracles. What other country has the medical care we do? We see God healing others in Africa and we say,"If only God would bring healing to us. But I believe he does.

In Ps 77:14 it says You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

I believe that God has blessed our country with doctors and medical professionals who can perform miracles. They have knowledge to treat many illnesses. Is that coincidence that these men and women have such knowledge? Was Luke devoid of spiritual power because he was a doctor and people came to him for healing?

I think this speaks to a greater void in us. We want signs and wonders, we want to "see" Gods Power but we are ignorant to the fact that Gods power is alive and well. I dare say that those suffering in third world countries would give their right arm to have the medical care that we do. And they would see it as a gift from God.

This is more of a trust in Gods sovereignty. Do we trust God or the medical professionals. Can we trust that God has given doctors the wisdom and knowledge to treat many illnesses?

I don't think we are pleasing the father when we go out looking for miracles so we can be "powered up" when he has given us all we need.

2 Peter 1:3 says God has given us all we need for life and godliness.

Everything for life. That includes doctors, dentists, etc. don't you think?
We need to be careful not to grieve Gods spirit in this area. Not that we put out trust completely in medical professionals but we need to see the bigger picture. Do we trust God in all situations? Do we trust him to give us the best care through doctors, nurses, dentists etc. and do we trust God enough to let us or others die at the hands of medical professionals. We can either say "God why did you let so and so die, or we can say "God I know that you are in control, even through this persons death". May we all take refuge in Gods sovereignty no matter what it looks like to us.
