how big is your cup ?

I was with a great freind on Sunday and we were talking about the provision of God in our lives. I was sharing how God has been teaching me more around 1 Corinthians 9:8
'and God is able to make all grace abound to you so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
I believe that it is Gods heart to bless us, and to teach us what it is we need. I see that verse as a means of truly meeting the needs of others in our lives. I am beginning to see that God wants to give us all that we need first, then out of our abundance we can truly be in the position to help others. So often we give out of our own needs and give away our milk money, or utility money or whatever. As I prayed into that, God began to show me more of his heart. He basically showed me that each person has given a cup for God to fill. His intention is to fill it to overflowing, then out of "your abundance" you can give away. However the trouble we find ourselves in is we see our cups getting full and we go grab bigger cups to grap the excess. This is not right. God wants the cups to overflow so that you can take the excess and give it to those that God puts on your heart.
